[DISCUSS] Moving the servicemix5 codebase to git

Gert Vanthienen
Administrator
L.S.,

It's been brought up a few times before that it would be nice to be
able to switch from SVN to git. Now that we have the entire ServiceMix
5 code living in a single source repository again, that would make a
good first candidate to make the switch.  We could ask infra@ to
convert the contents of SVN and make that our main servicemix.git
repository.

Re: [DISCUSS] Moving the servicemix5 codebase to git

Zakeria Hassan
In reply to this post by Johan Edstrom-2
Hi,

If your moving to Git. There is a nice continuous integration system that
will build the code run all the tests for you. You can run all your test on
a build system and get up to the minute feedback on every commit. It would
save some time during review of commits.

Its called Travis CI and there is an option on Git to enable it. It is also
free for Open Source projects.

There are also other options too.

Here is an example of up to the minute build status.

https://travis-ci.org/zmhassan/activemq-node.js

You could do the same for ServiceMix.

I would imagine that the apache jenkins servers are already up and running
for git.

Re: [DISCUSS] Moving the servicemix5 codebase to git

Zakeria Hassan
Just wanted to share. There is also an option to configure Jenkin to run
builds on every push. Nice feature in Git.

https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/GitHub+plugin

Thanks,
Zak

In reply to this post by Zakeria Hassan
I'm assuming that the git proposed here is apache git servers, not github
(apache does run mirrors via github).  I think jclouds right now is doing
their primary via github.
